Public Comment Committee

You will be asked to review ABA accreditation standards and exams in order to provide your opinion as an independent public member. Education or licensure is not required to serve on this committee. Builders and affiliates are welcome.

Eligibility Review Committee

You will be asked to spend 1-5 days at ABA Office in Sacramento to perform an off-site preliminary review of an architecture school for institutional compliance with ABA accreditation standards. Qualified candidates must hold at minimum a four year degree in architecture.

Visiting Teams

You will be asked to spend 1-5 days on-site at an architecture school to review institutional compliance with ABA accreditation standards. Qualified candidates must hold at minimum a four year degree in architecture.

Appeals Panel

Standing Appeals Panel may be called upon to hear an appeal from an architecture program that has been denied accreditation. This panel will deem if the decision was in compliance with ABA policies. Qualified candidates must hold at minimum a four year degree in architecture.

Commissioner

This is the highest position of authority within the ABA structure. You can apply for consideration to serve on the Board of Commissioners as a decision maker for the Commission.

  1. All Commissioners shall hold a bachelor of architecture, bachelor of science in architectural studies, master of architecture, or doctor of architecture; and

  2. Commissioners of the Commission shall not serve on the board or serve as chief executive officer of any related, associated, affiliated trade association, membership organization, or any other accrediting agency; and

  3. Commissioners of the Commission shall not hold membership in an organizations related to, formed by, associated or affiliated with any other accrediting agency for architecture programs or institutions.
